Term Three!
We are now past the half-way mark of the year and this term should provide plenty of challenges and opportunities to learn new things! Our big project this term will be to make a poster about a famous leader and to present an oral to the class about this leader. As usual we will continue with our weekly tests, mid-term assessments and end-of-term tests. Please continue to encourage your child to study hard for each and every test, and check that they know their work!
Our aim for this term is to make Sea Point Primary a noise-free environment. We want to encourage our children to be aware of how much noise they are making and to consciously make an effort to be quieter inside the building and in the playground. This will make it easier to concentrate and focus on what is important in the classroom and it will also be a good exercise in self-control. As before, there is a weekly score of 5 to be reached and the class with the highest score will be given a treat at the end of the term. This is definitely something worth aiming for!
This term we will be covering the following topics in our subjects:
In English and Afikaans we continue with reading, writing, spelling and grammar,
In Maths we will be covering money, fractions, rate and ratio, along with lots of revision of work already covered,
In Geography our work will be all about farming in South Africa,
In History we will continue with famous leaders and then cover the history of transport,
In Natural Science we will learn about reproduction in plants, life cycles and ecosystems, water and weather,
In Life Orientation we will be covering safety, conflict, bullying, hygiene and HIV/AIDS,
In EMS we are learning about different types of businesses and
In Technology we will learn more about wheels and axles and animal habitats.
This is going to be the best term ever!
